In the arcadian fields of pastoral folk-pop, there is a rare nightingale nestling in the trees, singing her song…Anne Marie Almedal. The velvet-voiced Norwegian artist whose words, music and presence astounds many.
Ever since fronting the art-pop indie heroes Velvet Belly throughout the 90's, ice-cool electronica adventures in AM and the UV, numerous recordings, live performances, film & TV themes, special guest appearances, and right up to her recent emergence as acoustic folk-pop chanteuse extraordinaire…it´s been a long, but worthwhile journey.
Of her debut solo album "The Siren and the sage" (+47/Warner Music) released in 2007, Esquire Magazine had this to say… "Sweetness multiplied, sadness tripled, her music brings you a closer step to heaven…as fantastic as sharing the last cigarette with the one you love".
Following on from her first album, Anne Marie and her delightful accompanists performed their naturalismo folk-pop in and out of Norway, and presented her much-anticipated follow-up, "Blue Sky Blue", summer 2010.
"Himmelblå", one of the singles to appear on "Blue Sky Blue", also managed to fly high in the charts over here in Scandinavia - theme song to the record-breaking Norwegian tv-drama series.Autumn 2012 sees the arrival of Anne Marie Almedal's "Memory Lane".
A stunning album, recorded in Kristiansand and London, featuring Danny Thompson (Pentangle, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Kate Bush, Talk Talk), and mixed by none other than John Wood - the producer who brought the world such classics as Nick Drake’s ”Pink Moon”, John Martyn´s ”Solid Air”, and most of the seminal Island records catalogue of the early 1970's.
”Memory Lane” - The third in a trilogy of gorgeous folk-pop solo albums, all voiced from the unique Norwegian songbird, Anne Marie Almedal.
