Anthony Kiedis has become one of the most prolific frontmen in modern American rock music as part of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He was fired for a month some time during 1986 due to drug problems.Kiedis was born in Michigan on November 1st 1962 to parents John Michael Kiedis (later to become actor Blackie Dammett) and Peggy Nobel.
After his parents split he moved to Hollywood with his father aged twelve. At this time he featured in several films under the psydenoum Cole Dammett, most notably as Sylvester Stalones son in the film F.
I.S.T. Kiedis began smoking cannabis aged 11 and by the end of his teens had moved onto harder drugs, supplied by his father who was, at that time, a drug dealer.Kiedis attended Fairfax High School which is where he met Balzary, along with guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons.
The four of them would go on to form the Red Hot Chili Peppers, starting as a joke band known as Tony Flow & The Miraculous Masters of Mayhem. During this time Kiedis' and Slovak's drug use began to spiral and in 1988, after a tour of Europe, Slovak was found dead.
Kiedis did not attend the funeral.Kiedis went clean following this, but his demons returned in the mid-90s as he, again, fell back onto drugs. This was a result of taking a painkiller after having his wisdom teeth removed.
In modern times, Kiedis claims to no longer take drugs.Intra-band controversy was caused in 2004 with the release of Kiedis' autobiography, "Scar Tissue". Flea claims to have been hurt by some things written.
Current guitarist John Frusciante claims not to have read it, feeling the experience would be too painful.Kiedis, along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, are bigger than ever in 2006 with the release of worldwide smash album Stadium Arcadium, with the Chilis in the middle of a worldwide tour.
Kiedis is now a member of Kabbalah.
