JD Natasha is not your average 18 year old girl. She dreams of changing the world with her music. In her eyes, you can see a sense of purpose and she possesses a natural talent that is found in few. She sings like an angel, writes songs with a wisdom beyond her years and rocks out like a girl on a mission.
After a successful whirl in the Latin market. she is now ready to take on her true destiny - a career making the kind of music that she believes in.JD signed with EMI Music US Latin in November 2003 at the age of 15.
Her debut album, Imperfecta/Imperfect, is a predominantly Spanish record which includes three English tracks, all penned by the young singer-songwriter. Not only does she write her own songs, but she plays a mean guitar and takes inspiration from Nirvana, Bob Marley and Enrique Bunbury.
The debut was greeted with much fanfare by the media and critics (the Miami Herald declared it the best Latin album of the year of 2004, for instance), and it was indeed an impressive debut. Before the album was even recorded, she managed to grab the attention of the AOL.
They created Impulsa, a program built around her, which is the Latin version of Breakers (the same program that helped launch Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch). They also recorded AOL Sessions, where JD's cover of Outkasts' "Hey Ya" debuted top 10 on their General Market chart in front of artists such as Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and the Beastie Boys.
In addition, she caught the eye of MTV US by grabbing a spot not only as an Advanced Warning artist in August 2004 but also on Discover & Download in February 2005. Natasha made the cover of Maxim en Espanol in October of 2005 at 17 years old and caused many waves by being the youngest girl to pose for the elite Mens magazine.
Most recently, she garnished three Latin Grammy nominations: Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for Lagrimas. All of this before the age of 18! With plans to record a follow up album in English, the future looks bright for this rising star.
