The Jonas Brothers are an American pop boy band. The band gained its popularity from the Disney Channel children's television network. From the shore region of New Jersey, the band consists of three brothers: Kevin, Joe and Nick.
In the summer of 2008, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies "Camp Rock" and its sequel, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam." The band has released four albums: It's About Time, Jonas Brothers, A Little Bit Longer, Lines, Vines and Trying Times and V.
In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. They have sold over 8 million albums worldwide.
Their debut studio album "It's About Time" was released in 2006 on Columbia Records. The album sold 62,000 copies in the US. After briefly being without a label, the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007.
Their self-titled second album was released on August 7, 2007. It reached Number 5 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week. The Jonas Brothers' third studio album, "A Little Bit Longer" was released in the United States in 2008.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 525,402 units in its opening week. The album also charted at Number 1 on the Billboard Comprehensive Albums, Top Digital Albums, Top Internet Albums and Tastemakers charts.
It has sold 1.6 million copies in the U.S, receiving a platinum certification by the RIAA. "Lines, Vines and Trying Timest," their fourth studio album, was released in 2009. In its first week, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" sold 247,000 copies, debuting at Number 1 on the Billboard 200.
The band became part of the TV landscape with the highly popular reality TV series, "Married to Jonas," which showed Kevin and Danielle Jonas balancing domestic life with Kevin's music career. At the height of their career, the pop trio phenomenon took a three-year hiatus to refocus their creative energies.
The result was an electrifying combination of pop, rock, classic R&B, techno and dance genres that ensured the group's relevance and took their music to greater heights. The band spent 2012 writing and producing their fifth album.
“Pom Poms,” their highly-anticipated first single off the new album, was released in 2013. Their fifth album, which was to be titled "V," was never released. In October 2013, the band announced that they were breaking up.
In 2019, the Jonas Brothers reunited and re-emerged on the music scene, releasing "Sucker," their new single. They also appeared on Carpool Karaoke with comedian James Corden.
