Julian Marley is a British Jamaican reggae musician. He is the son of reggae legend Bob Marley. Marley is a Grammy Award-nominated reggae singer, musician, songwriter, producer, and humanitarian. He follows in his father's footsteps and is a devout Rastafarian who uses his music to inspire his life and spirituality.
Marley's childhood was spent between England and Jamaica. Musical from an early age, he learned to play the keyboard, drums, bass, guitar, among other instruments. Along with his brothers Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley, he became involved with Ghetto Youth International, a production company, in 1989.
Marley released his debut solo album, Lion in the Morning, in 1996 and embarked on a world tour. He and his brother Damian Marley toured with the Lollapalooza festival in 1997. His second album, A Time And Place, was released in 2003.
His third album, Awake (released in 2009), was nominated for a prestigious Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category. His fourth album, As I Am, was released in January of 2019 and received a nomination for a Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category in the 62nd Grammy Awards.
That same year, Marley had a daughter die tragically young from a brain tumor.
