With influences such as King Crimson, Jeff Beck, and Daft Punk, SunSquabi seeks to break boundaries of electronic dance music by infusing it with rock and funk. Based out of Boulder, CO, Kevin Donohue and Andrew Clymer set out to create a new sound in the world of electronic music as “SunSquabi” in January of 2011.
With tremendous potential, the duo began working on material for their first album, Enhance, with the help of producer/DJ Rex Buchanan. Since then, they have gained much local recognition and fan support.
Kevin “Finbar” Donohue is the band’s lead guitarist and musical mastermind. Andrew Clymer is responsible for providing the group with funky, rhythmic bass lines. Kevin’s musical mastery and Clymer’s constant creative energy combine a jam performance with electronic edge.
In the fall of 2011, Sunsquabi was joined by drummer Chris Anderson of Boston, Massachusetts. Anderson’s precise yet resonating drumming completes the band’s sound. One unique aspect of SunSquabi is the experience of a community-oriented live show.
SunSquabi offers true live performance and music worth seeing. Each band-member brings his own style and presence to the stage, a stage well-lit by lights, lasers, and the "cube". Designed and constructed by the trio themselves, the cube is truly unique and provides a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
Donahue, in addition to ripping on the guitar, DJ’s, laying down tracks, while Clymer provides thumping live bass guitar and nasty synth . Anderson’s percussion adds fullness to the band’s sound creating a dense musical experience.
SunSquabi aspires to tour nationally and participate in festivals bringing hydroelectric funk to the electronica music scene, transforming the genre and making their impact. With the incorporation of countless styles of music, a wide range of audiences can enjoy a positive atmosphere with amazing music.
Down to earth and still bumpin’, SunSquabi provides a refreshing new sound that stands out from the pack.
