Tyler Farr is a country music singer-songwriter known for singles such as the 2015 #1 "A Guy Walks Into a Bar" and "Redneck Crazy." Farr was born and raised in the small town of Garden City, Missouri. Farr first fell in love with country music at age 16 after his mother married George Jones' touring guitarist.
Farr is also a classically trained opera singer with a degree in voice from Missouri State University. He took voice lessons as a teenager and sang tenor in Missouri's All-State Choir in his senior year of high school.
Farr decided to pursue his dream of being a country artist, so he moved to Nashville and landed a job working as a bouncer at the legendary Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge for five months until he was able to convince the management to let him sing.
For the next few years, he would play the Tootsie’s stage four nights a week, in addition to working security at the door. An avid outdoorsman, Farr found a friend in award-winning songwriter and fellow outdoorsman, Rhett Akins.
Rhett had heard some of Farr’s music, and he wanted to work with him. After writing with some of the best songwriters in Nashville, Farr eventually landed a publishing deal with Sony ATV/Monument Publishing, and it was that connection that ultimately helped him land a recording contract on Sony Music Nashville’s BNA Records.
In 2013, Farr released his debut studio album, Redneck Crazy, with Columbia Nashville. The album peaked at #2 on the U.S. country albums chart. Farr followed up the success of Redneck Crazy with his sophomore album, 2015's Suffer in Peace.
A single released in promotion of that album, "A Guy Walks Into a Bar," hit #7 on the country chart and #1 on the country airplay chart in the United States.
