We Are The Emergency is a band that fall into a distinct minority. Their peers may be content sitting around and waiting for the paint to dry, but the Perth six-piece have carved a solid name for themselves using nothing more than a tireless work ethic and unbreakable determination.
They have proven themselves to be one of Australia’s most promising prospects, and on the eve of the release of their debut album Whispers And Fragments, We Are The Emergency is about to go from promise to powerhouse.
From day one, We Are The Emergency has proven that they’re not interested in doing things by half measures, flying themselves halfway across the world to record their self-funded debut release, the Seizure EP.
Recorded by Kris Crummet (Dance Gavin Dance, Closure In Moscow), Seizure promptly marked the entrance of a band who were here to stay, and quickly garnered the band a sturdy reputation. Within months of its’ release, We Are The Emergency were gaining steady momentum by supporting the likes of Bleeding Through, House Vs.
Hurricane, Behind Crimson Eyes and The Getaway Plan, and their hard-work resulted in the growth of their own die-hard fanbase, This hard work in their home city of Perth then translated into Australia-wide recognition, with two national tours capping off what was a very impressive 2009.
2010 has already proven to be full steam ahead for We Are The Emergency. Having already played alongside As I Lay Dying, Short Stack and Closure In Moscow, the WATE camp also began the process of recording their debut album Whispers And Fragments.
This time flying Kris Crummet from Portland to Australia, WATE locked themselves away in a beach-house in the picturesque South-West of WA, and didn’t surface until the job was done. The end result is 12 tracks of powerful and emotional rock, that sees We Are The Emergency take on a much more mature and overall impressive sound, with song-writing and production of the highest quality.
Debut albums can make or break a band, but Whispers And Fragments is set to ensure that all of the hype that surrounds We Are The Emergency is well and truly justified. We Are The Emergency will launch Whispers And Fragments on May 8th and 9th at Amplifier Bar and HQ Leederville respectively, with plans to follow up with a run of national shows to come.
