ZMAZA was created at the beginning of 90. as ZMAZA NOCNA. After many trials and personal changes band’s composition formed and has became unchanged to this day: Piotr “Mlody” Gmur – guitar, vocal; Sylwester “Szadok” Szade – bass, Marcin “Sopel” Sobkowski – drums.
In initial stage of activity, band had played a lot of local shows but it had came off that Zmaza started in so-called Open doors FMR Jarocin 93. Soon group had to was limited by studies, local et technical problems.
Despite that fact, ZMAZA didn’t suspend it’s acitivity and - in spite of all - band appeared at some gigs. In those days each of group members took up their own music projects what had influeanced on contemporary face of the band.
In 2002 ZMAZA recorded it’s first demo “Amademosz” using home-made equipment. Songs occurred on this demo were a resultant of members’s music experiences. Style of music was based on many genres – from punk rock, through metal or hip-hop’s pastiche in “G-Rap-A”.
Ever after group have played more and more shows with bands like – for example Moskwa, Habakuk, Cool Kids of Death and above all – Le Illjah - with whom Zmaza entered into communication that ended as common tour in South Poland.
In December 2004 Group came into the studio – Tom horn’s Studio Q - and recorded first studio stuff where appeared Tomasz “Miod” Mioduszewski from Le Illjah (Jamal at present) as a guest.2005 meant next concerts – inter alia Kozienalia in Lublin, Jarocin PRL Festival, CK Alternatiff in Kielce where ZMAZA became a prizewinner.
In autumn band signed a contract with Wroclaw’s music company - Rockers Publishing – for publishing debut record “Owszem”. At the same time group appeared on Farben Lehre’s tour promoting their record “Farbenheit”.
Thanks to that tour, ZMAZA got an invitation to show in Poznan within Punky Reggae Live 2006 Tour with Farben Lehre, Akurat, Zabili Mi Zolwia and gig within Rock Festiwal 2006 in Krakow.In 2006 ZMAZA became a jury’s prizewinner of Jarocin Festiwal 2006 – jury was consist of Robert Sankowski from "Gazeta Wyborcza", Ryszard Gloger from "Radio Merkury" and musician Tymon Tymanski.
From autumn ‘till the end of the year 2006 band played at Farben Lehre 20th anniversary’s tour.
