Martina McBride
Add to FavoritesMartina McBride is a country music singer-songwriter often called the Celine Dion of Country Music for her big-voiced ballads and soprano range. McBride, who made her debut with the single "The Time Has Come" in 1992, over time developed a pop-styled crossover sound similar to that of Faith Hill and Shania Twain.
Her most famous songs include "This One's For the Girls," "Concrete Angels," "Independence Day," "Wild Angels," "A Broken Wing" and "Safe in the Arms of Love." McBride has won an abundance of Country Music Awards (CMAs) throughout her career, including the Female Vocalist of the Year Award, the Music Video of the Year Award and the Founding President's Award.
In 2019, McBride won the Academy of Country Music's (ACM) prestigious Icon Award, although she has won many ACMs in the past as well, including Favorite Country Female Artist, Top Female Vocalist and Humanitarian of the Year.
In addition to her impressive country music career, McBride is a philanthropist. Domestic violence is an issue particularly close to McBride's heart -- she served as a spokeswoman for the National Domestic Violence Hotline as well as the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
In 2003, McBride was awarded the Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award, and the next year, she worked with Kids Wish Network to fulfill the wish of a young girl dying from muscular dystrophy.
