Since the release of her 2007 debut single \"Ur So Gay,\" Perry has released four albums and has had six Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit singles. Under the name Katy Hudson, she released a self-titled gospel album in 2001, which was unsuccessful. In 2007, after signing with Capitol Music Group, her fourth record label in seven years, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry. She released her first Internet single \"Ur So Gay\" that November, which garnered public attention but failed to chart. She rose to fame with the release of her second single \"I Kissed a Girl\" in 2008, which made it onto top international charts. Perry's first mainstream studio album One of the Boys followed later that year and subsequently became the 33rd-best selling album worldwide of 2008. Her second studio album, Teenage Dream, was released in August 2010 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album includes five Billboard chart-toppers \"California Gurls,\" \"Teenage Dream,\" \"Firework,\" \"E.T.\" and \"Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),\" making Teenage Dream only the second album - after Michael Jackson's Bad - to have five songs reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. With \"E.T.\" at number one on the chart of May 12, 2011, Perry became the first artist in history to spend 52 consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Perry has been a judge on American Idol, has released multiple fragrances, and voiced Smurfette in the 2011 film The Smurfs. Perry married Russell Brand on October 23, 2010. After 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for divorce from Perry on December 30, 2011, in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became effective in July 2012 and is one of the main subjects of \"Katy Perry: Part of Me,\" a 2012 documentary concert film. After its release, Perry's third album, Prism, topped the US album charts with first week sales of 286,000, making it Perry's best opening week to date. Her fourth studio album, Witness, was released in 2017.","featuredImage":"https:\/\/assets.allamericanmusic.com\/images\/7513_h_0.jpg","feeRange":"500,000 - 1,000,000"}

{"key":"7518","name":"Mariah Carey","bio":"Mariah Carey is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, record producer, actress, and entrepreneur known for her smash hit \"All I Want for Christmas Is You,\" as well as her five-octave vocal range. Referred to as the \"Songbird Supreme\" by the Guinness World Records, she is noted for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, signature use of the whistle register, and songwriting prowess. She rose to fame in 1990 after signing to Columbia Records and releasing her eponymous debut album, which topped the U.S. Billboard 200 for eleven consecutive weeks. Soon after, Carey became the only artist ever to have their first five singles reach #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, from \"Vision of Love\" to \"Emotions.\" Carey achieved worldwide success with follow-up R&B and pop albums Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (1994), and Daydream (1995). These albums spawned some of Carey's most successful singles, including \"Hero,\" \"Without You,\" \"All I Want for Christmas Is You,\" \"Fantasy,\" \"Always Be My Baby,\" as well as \"One Sweet Day,\" which later became Billboard's Song Of The Decade for the 1990s. After separating from Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and incorporated more elements of hip hop into her music with the release of Butterfly (1997). Billboard named her the country's most successful artist of the 1990s, while the World Music Awards honored her as the world's best-selling recording artist of the 1990s, and the best-selling female artist of the millennium. After eleven consecutive years charting a U.S. #1 single, Carey parted ways with Columbia in 2000 and signed a $100 million recording contract with Virgin Records. However, following her highly publicized physical and emotional breakdown, as well as the critical and commercial failure of her film Glitter (2001) and its accompanying soundtrack, her contract was bought out for $50 million by Virgin and she signed with Island Records the next year. After a relatively unsuccessful period, she returned to the top of music charts with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), which became the best-selling album of 2005 in the U.S. Its second single, \"We Belong Together,\" was the #1 song of 2005 in the U.S., and was later declared Billboard's Song of the Decade for the 2000s. In 2009, she was cast in the critically acclaimed film Precious, which won her Breakthrough Actress Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Throughout her career, Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Carey holds the record for the most #1 singles by a solo artist, a female songwriter, and a female producer. In 2019, She has consistently been credited with inspiring a generation of singers and is hailed as being one of the pioneers of pop and contemporary R&B music. In January of 2020, Carey became the first artist to ever have a #1 single in four different decades.","featuredImage":"https:\/\/assets.allamericanmusic.com\/images\/7518_h_0.jpg","feeRange":"please contact"}

Her melodic voice and wild costumes have come to epitomize the 1980s and New Wave \u2014 the decade and genre in which she first came to fame.Born in Queens, New York to Swiss German-American Fred Lauper and Sicilian Italian-American Catrine Dominique, she began her career in a cover band, but soon began performing her own songs (though she almost quit singing altogether due to strained vocal chords in 1977). By 1980 she'd released a rockabilly album on Polydor with the band Blue Angel. Despite much critical acclaim, the album \"went lead,\" as Lauper says, and the band split as Lauper filed for bankruptcy.In 1983 she started dating her manager David Wolff with whom she released She's So Unusual, a worldwide hit album which made Lauper a household name. A mixture of teen-friendly pop-rock and edgier, almost punky sounds, the album's biggest hit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, quickly established itself as a female anthem. Lauper won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards of 1984 for her work on the album. Lauper was the first female artist to have four consecutive Hot 100 Top 5 hits from one album.Subsequent albums (such as True Colors, A Night to Remember, Hat Full of Stars) did not sell as well, but Lauper remains active to the present day and still retains a very strong fan base.Lauper's latest album Memphis Blues was released in June 2011, premiering at #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart where it remained for 14 consecutive weeks. The album also reached #26 on the Billboard Top 200, and was later named the Billboard Blues Album of the year, also earning Lauper a Grammy nomination. The chorus' lyrics had to be changed as the word \"slap\" sounded too close to the word \"stab\", and the band didn't want to condone violence. It was later changed to \"leave\". The single entered the UK chart at #84 and peaked at #4. It managed to hit #14 in Ireland and #21 in Europe. Their fourth single, Just Can't Get Enough, was the official Comic Relief single in 2009.
